It is important that you communicate your needs to your Personal Assistant (PA) in clear and appropriate manner and that you provide to them the respect that you would want in return. It is important that you:

bullet Are on time for appointments with your PA and tell them if you will not be able to meet with them
bullet Respect the privacy of your PA and do not tell others their personal business
bullet Clearly explain the work that you would like done and that manner that you would like your PCA to complete the task
bullet Provide constructive criticism to your PA if you are not pleased with something they have done without being demeaning, insulting or belittling
bullet Discuss the problems that you have with their work without insulting their person
bullet Are not otherwise abusive or react physically in anger or frustration
bullet Have realistic expectations for how the person can help you, asking their provider agency if you are unsure.
